John David Olive
March 16, 1955 - October 3, 2011
It is with great sadness we say good bye to our beloved John who passed away on October 3, 2011 at the age of 56 years.  John was born in Stettler on March 16, 1955 and spent his childhood and early adult years living in Big Valley.  John went to school in Big Valley and High School in Stettler. After graduation,  John worked with his Father at Young’s Tank Cleaning. John grew up playing hockey and was a true blue Boston Bruin fan with a dream to always become as good as his idol “Bobby Orr”. John enjoyed hockey and baseball and later in life became an avid golfer.  John moved to Red Deer in 1980 to begin a very long and successful career in Oilfield Sales. The “patch” became a huge part of his life, during his 31 years of sales in the industry John began his ride of the highs and lows of life in the Alberta Oilpatch!  During his years his well deserved holidays were always spent in Maui, John discovered Maui and his love for it early on and spent many, many years travelling back to his favourite Island.  John will always be remembered for his kind, gentle, special ways, he sponsored African children in need and was a huge supporter for the humane treatment of all animals.  John enjoyed watching all sports on a Sunday afternoon usually while cooking or BBQing something special.  For many years it was tradition to go to John’s on Sunday for one of his many wonderful meals and if time permitted a game of monopoly. (which he usually won!!)  Our Son, Brother, Uncle and friend will always be remembered with Love, Pride and a Smile.  John was predeceased by his Father William Olive in 1992, and his Sister In-law Eleanor Olive in 2010.  He leaves to morn his loss his Mother (Mumsey) Marjorie Olive , his Brother Bill Olive, his Brother Ross Olive, his Sister Marjorie ( Ron) Olive – Kilpatrick, his niece Kelly Olive (Reilly), nephew Doug ( Jackie and Ethan) as well as many other loving relatives and friends. And last but certainly not least his two beloved dogs Fuzzy and Harry. A memorial service will be held at the Big Valley Jubilee Hall in Big Valley, Alberta on Friday, October 7, 2011 at 1:30 P.M.  As an expression of sympathy and  in loving memory of John, memorial contributions may be made to the S.P.C.A in care of Brennen Funeral Home and Cremation Services P.O. No words can describe the pain you are feeling right now with the sudden loss of John. I will always remember him as my Teddy Bear who I could find comfort in his arms and his smile always made you feel secure. Time will heal the pain you are feeling right now but know that he is in a better place and that he loved you all.
